LEAD BUSINESS ANALYST
Description:
A leading Edinburgh based investment firm has an exciting new opportunity available for an experienced Lead Business Analyst to join their office on a permanent basis.
The Lead Business Analyst acts as a liaison to the executive and business unit leads on the organization’s top priority projects. The individual works closely with senior business leaders in program level strategy development and execution, including participating in negotiations on conflicting priorities with stakeholders.
Core Responsibilities:
- Reviews tactical implications of new strategic directions of projects and business units/functional areas.
- Ensures long-term strategic goals and an enterprise view are represented in requirements.
- Identifies and implements changes in business systems to ensure sustainability of changes including but not limited to process, organization and performance measures.
- Recommends improvements for business processes.
- Analyses, identifies, and prioritizes complex and competing business requirements across business functions.
- Directs and resolves problems and issues with requirements
- Performs impact analysis on requested changes to requirements.
- Communicates with technical teams and business partners to clarify requirements.
- Influences decisions once RFI/RFPs are received. Working with executive sponsors on final decisions.
- Creates and executes test cases spanning multiple systems and validate against expected results.
- Aligns business solutions with strategy.
- Participates in the testing strategy to be used during UAT, SIT and post-implementation testing.
- Identifies high-impact change challenges and builds engagement tasks into the change plan to mitigate or reduce impact.
- Analyses change impacts on the entire organization and key stakeholder groups.
- Partners with training coordinators to ensure the changes are understood.
- Defines and implements innovative approaches and solutions that require dramatic changes within and across business environments.
- Consults with project managers to complete complex cost benefit analyses.
- Writes business case for complex, cross-functional business process solutions.
- Identifies hurdles to achieving business benefits and identifies creative solutions.
- Creates business benefits realization measure for business cases.
- Partners with senior leaders on program level strategy development and execution
- Negotiates compromise among stakeholders and aligns on shared objectives and benefits
- Maintains ongoing relationships with stakeholders during and between projects
- Coordinates implementation of changes to existing workflows or applications
- Documents workflows and participates in walkthroughs
- Reviews and/or prepares test plans, test cases and scripts for a small-medium sized projects
- Performs user acceptance testing and helps with triage and clarification of issues uncovered in user acceptance testing for the application development teams
- Performs miscellaneous administrative duties as necessary

Core Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Extensive experience as a SME, business/technical resource involving analysis on medium/high level projects, initiatives or production support efforts
- Experience with both business and technology aspects of delivering complex solutions
- Experience with functional business unit systems
- Experience with system development lifecycle methodology
- Experience with the application and user testing process
- Advanced experience utilizing moderate process modelling methodologies (i.e. lean, Six Sigma)
- Advanced experience utilizing MS Office (e.g., Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access Project)
- Advanced experience with utilizing business metrics
- Business Analyst certification preferred
Desirable qualifications:
- Mutual Fund/Financial Services Experience
- Master’s degree
