Lead Business Analyst / Project Manager
The Risk Management Group (RMG) is an independent, centralised unit responsible for assessing and monitoring risks across Macquarie. This includes market and liquidity risk, credit risk, compliance risk and operational risk. RMG personnel liaise closely with all operating areas to ensure risks are understood and properly managed.
Within Compliance we have a team responsible for the identification, design and delivery of projects. Due to an increasingly complex global regulatory environment we are now seeking a highly motivated and experienced Lead Business Analyst / Project Manager to join our project team. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work alongside a number of talented people and development of your Project Management skills will be a key focus by allowing you hands on experience managing projects over the entire lifecycle. In this global role, you will be part of a team responsible for delivering a range of Macquarie Compliance initiatives.
With strong problem solving skills, you will critically analyse needs to formulate solutions to meet regulatory obligations. The role also includes process, system or change management design as well as looking at competitor, vendor and industry analysis.
Key responsibilities
Working closely with the Macquarie Compliance teams, the business groups and Corporate Operations Group (COG), the role will include:
- Ownership of various compliance project streams from commencement to implementation.
- Proposal, design and delivery of solutions that ensure success and realisation of benefits.
- The day to day management of a small team of Business Analysts.
- Identifying required changes in processes and/or systems across the global compliance operation.
- Maintaining an open dialogue with users and stakeholders and regular reporting of project costs and progress to management and project stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Act as point of contact for the Macquarie Compliance business as well as with business groups and Technology teams.
- Conduct detailed analysis of business requirements for each project stream.
- Drafting of business and functional specifications for a wide range of projects. Some example projects include trade surveillance and monitoring projects.
Key experience and attributes
Interested applicants will ideally possess some, if not all, of the following:
- This is a mid to senior Project Manager role requiring previous experience within a global investment bank or financial services institution.
- Experience of project management tools and techniques and a desire to further develop these skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team bringing a creative approach to problems and issues; assertive, tenacious and proactive.
- Ability to be self-directed and work to deadlines while maintaining a high degree of accuracy and quality.
- Strong analytical skills - combined with the ability to view the bigger picture.
- Solid written and verbal communication skills.
- Effective interpersonal skills and the ability to negotiate and present at all levels.
- Compliance and/or financial services regulatory experience is highly regarded. In particular experience in understanding trade life cycles and trading compliance.
