LEAD CARDIAC MONITOR TECH CCHS Employees Only Reference Title HR Use Only: Hospital: Cleveland Clinic Main Campus Family Health Centers Facility: CLEVELAND CLINIC ADMINISTRATION CENTER (CCAC) Department: CENTRAL MONITORING UNIT Job Code: C18039 Pay Grade: 09 Schedule: Full Time Shift: Variable Hours: variable Job Details: Summary: Supervises Cardiac Monitor Technicians and maintains the clinical operations of the Central Monitoring Unit. Monitors staff performance and equipment/computer function; commuicates status to Nurse Managers and Supervisor. Monitors telemetry-recognizing pertinent arrhythmias and subsequent notification of the nursing unit. Job Responsibilities: Organizes and coordinates daily assignments for cardiac monitor techs. Assesses cardiac monitor technician competency requirements. Provides assistance to cardiac monitor techs having difficulty with complex interpretation. Assures appropriate staffing levels for upcoming shift. Assists Supervisor with identifying the educational needs of the cardiac monitor technicians. Assures completion of Cardiac Monitor Techs daily event logs/communication logs. Participates in quality assurance improvement projects. Utilize escalation process to notify appropriate staff when communication barriers are occurring between the CMU and nursing unit for arrhythmia notification. Accurately interprets EKG strips to include: rhythm, rate, PR, QRS and QT interval. Proficiency in tele monitoring equipment. Other duties as assigned. Education: High School Graduate or GED. Experience: One year of experience as a RN/LPN, EMT, Med Assist, Cardiovascular Tech or relevant experience. Excellent EKG interpretation skills, supervisory experience preferred. Licensure/Certification/Registration: BCLS certification preferred. Physical Requirements: Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Requires frequent sitting and computer entry. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
