Employment Requirements:

·         Valid VISA to work in Singapore and should be able to travel without restriction to Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Australia and China. 

·         Position reports to the Director of Sales Engineering APAC.

 

Qualifications and Experience

An ideal candidate will meet the above requirements, as well as possess some level of experience with all, and significant expertise with at least several, of the following technologies/companies:

  • Experience as a Sales Engineer with any of the following storage companies: NetApp, Dell, EMC or IBM is a requirement.
  • Experience as a Sales Engineer with either of the following software companies: Commvault or Symantec is a requirement.
  • Experience with any of the following storage management software: VMware, Data Domain, Legato, is a plus.
  • Windows, UNIX/Linux as well as major vendor platforms like HP, IBM, etc.
  • Virtualization technologies (VMWare, Microsoft Hyper-V)
  • Storage Area Networks (SAN), Network Attached Storage (NAS), SCSI interfaces, storage devices (prior experience with NetApp storage technologies is strongly preferred)
  • Networking technologies (LAN, WAN, Ethernet, IP, etc.)
  • Exchange, SQL Server, Sharepoint, Oracle, GroupWise, SAP, or other enterprise applications

 

Education:

·         Bachelor of Arts/Science in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, or other related technology disciplines. (Candidates with other degrees will be considered if they are able to demonstrate sufficient technical proficiency and expertise.)

·         Advanced degree preferred, but not required

·         Fluency of English language and solid knowledge of Chinese language is a requirement.

·         5+ years of practical, hands-on work experience with at least 3 years in a similar position

The candidate should have 5 years+ prior experience in a Pre-Sales role, or a similar technical role with architectural and design responsibilities. He or she must be an independent self-starter with strong problem solving skills, well-developed analytical, planning and administrative proficiencies, as well as the ability to accurately prioritize and manage time/resources for maximum efficiency and productivity.

 

Ability to present technical concepts in a clear and concise manner to a wide range of audiences (including senior executives, IT managers, and business unit representatives) is required, along with excellent writing, editing, communication and interpersonal skills.

 

Key Responsibilities

This position supports our NetApp Syncsort Integrated Backup (NSB) product.  The key responsibilities of the Data Protection Sales Engineer include:

  • Providing technical leadership during the pre-sales cycles as well as technical support to partners during key aspects of the post sales process.
  • Participating in requirements gathering for Data Protection implementation projects, and assisting with the creation of localized sales tools (as needed) that address prospective, current and evolving client requirements.

·         Developing and maintaining extensive knowledge of various technical concepts related to Syncsort Data Protection products, their deployment and usage, as well as that of competitors

·         Being able to install, deploy, configure, and troubleshoot Syncsort Data Protection products in complex heterogeneous production and test environments.

·         Building and maintaining awareness of information technology market and product trends through participation in professional associations, review of trade journals, networking, associated training and seminars, as well as self-study/self-development

·         Acting as technical guide and mentor to other team members (within Syncsort and Partner Organizations) by sharing industry and product expertise

·         Being the technical lead for Syncsort's Partner's and value added resellers sales engineers.  This includes training Partner Sales Engineers, installing and configuring NSB products within demo lab environments, as well continued development of relationship with Partner Sales Engineers.

·         Extending and developing Syncsort's technical relationships with Syncsorts Distribution Sales Engineers and other ISV partners (ie. NetApp).
