Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Lead Engineer for our latest product: IQWST Digital Edition. This middle school curriculum has been developed over the past 10 years using a research based, inquiry driven approach. Our goal is to create a “Digital Student Notebook” using this content.
In this position, you’ll be taking an existing print curriculum and transforming in novel ways for use on a tablet or the web. You’ll architect ways to ingest large amounts of XML content, elegantly handle issues like local storage on iPads, and craft unique student response systems and reporting solutions for teachers. Skills Requirements
This is a chance to get in on the ground floor of the technology department at Sangari and make a deep impact. Substantial opportunity exists to help steer systems, infrastructure, process, QA, platforms, tools, and more.
You will run the development from a technical perspective. Using requirements and wireframes, work with product management to flesh out deliverables. You’ll sketch out a system to satisfy those requirements, architect it and properly delegate parts of that system to team members. You will also build a substantial part of the system yourself.
Skills Required:
- 5+ years in technical development of web based applications
3+ years in development of mobile applications
- some experience leading a team of other engineers or partner consultants a plus
Excellent systems design sense
- 4+ years working with Javascript
Expert in open source back-end (ruby/python/etc) development or front-end (html/js/css) development (if both, superb)
- Versed in basic system administration, such as web server admin, database admin, and related configurations
Ability to “wear lots of hats” and contribute towards the overall passion for education
- Ability to work remotely and be productive, but you’re a team player who works well with others
