Lead HPC Applications Analyst

Job Description: The Lead HPC Applications Analyst will investigate and evaluate new technologies and develop techniques to improve the productivity of the NASA NCCS HPC environment. He/she will actively participate in the design and development of software tools and algorithms to address challenges in computational modeling and simulation, data capture, data analysis, data storage and overall workload optimization. He/she will also ensure optimum performance, reliability, and scalability of applications. Required Skills: - Expert knowledge configuring and optimizing workload schedulers and resource managers (e.g. PBS, LSF, MOAB). - Expert knowledge using parallel programming techniques (e.g. MPI, OpenMP, pthreads). - Expert knowledge using parallel programming languages (e.g., C, C++, F90 and HPF). - Expert knowledge using scientific simulation and/or data analysis. - Expert use of shell and programming languages. - Experience with common data formats used in HPC such as NetCDF and HDF5. - Experience with high-performance networking APIs. - Experience with client-server architectures using remote procedure calls or sockets. - Excellent oral and written communication skills. Desired Skills: - Experience in a large scale RD HPC environment. - Experience working with the climate modeling and simulation community. Required Education: - BS/BA in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or a related field, or possess equivalent experience in lieu of a degree. - Minimum 10 years related experience in a large scale RD HPC environment.
