Lead Insurance Analyst Job in Walnut Creek, California US

One such product is personal lines insurance. We are looking for an energetic and innovative individual to join our business architecture team at AAA NCNU Insurance Exchange in Walnut Creek, CA.

The Lead Insurance Analyst position would participate primarily in building next generation of insurance data warehouse and business intelligence capabilities that would align with overall business strategies of AAA Insurance Exchange. Incumbents in this position apply insurance business knowledge and utilize technical skills and analytic methods for building clear and crisp business requirements that IT partners can utilize to deliver state of the art reporting and analytics solutions. Experience and judgment is foundational and a key factor to plan and accomplish the goals.

Main Responsibilities:

- Gathering business data, reporting and analytics requirements around personal lines insurance products

- Rationalizing business requirements and building agreements with business partners

- Developing and maintaining Insurance Exchange Business Glossary

- Developing standards and data code maps in partnership with colleagues and affiliates;

- Building test plans for user acceptance tests (UAT) for business data warehouse, socializing test plans with the IT and business partners, seeking feedback and finalizing test plans in advance of UAT commencement

- Facilitating and leading solutions to key business issues related to business requirements for business data warehouse.

- Reviewing specs, documents and providing formal feedbacks

- Leading creation of storyboards and templates based on business users feedback

- Training and educating business users around data warehouse and business intelligence solutions and leading change management efforts.

Work is in an office environment sitting at a desk, table or computer workstation for extended periods of time. May travel by car, plane or other form of transportation to attend business functions. Approximately 50% to 80% of time spent on the job involves the use of a personal computer.

Knowledge, Skills Abilities

Required Skill / Experience:

- At least 5 years of experience in auto and personal lines insurance products

- Proven track record in analytical, statistical, and computational research

- Strong database skills with a focus on insurance data analytics and reporting

- Familiarity of database concepts covering ETL, data models, data access layers, business intelligence(BI) with knowledge in any one or more of the following: SAS, COGNOS, SQL, Informatica, DB2

- High proficiency in Excel, word and PowerPoint

- Adaptability and the capability of multi-tasking, time management and organizational alignment

- Strong oral and written communication skills

- Ability to work in a team environment and demonstrate ownership of actions

- Ability to coach and mentor co-workers and give feedback as required

- Bachelor's degree in insurance, actuarial science, mathematics, business, statistics, economics, computer science, civil engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience

Strongly Desired:

- Master's degree in related area

- Experience in handling data warehouse development for insurance products
