Responsibilities:
The Lead Portfolio Management manages the global IT Portfolio and stewards the capital budget globally; responsible for tracking, reporting, managing potential collisions in the portfolio; prioritizing the portfolio to deliver maximum value; facilitating discussions in the Demand areas and with Demand areas and their business counterparts re: portfolio and project plans for future years.
Key responsibilities include:
- Effective stewardship the global IT portfolio
- Development of an Global IT Annual Portfolio plan along with required capital budget
- Development of future IT portfolio plans and forecasts
- Prioritized and optimized value to the business by advising on opportunities that provide maximum contribution to business performance
Primary tasks include:
- Analyze and identify critical path risks across the portfolio of projects.
- Monitor and assess progress within the portfolio; manage a consolidated portfolio plan and performance metrics.
- Work with the Demand Managers to advise on correct processes and procedures. Ensure that new projects are properly vetted and presented to IT Lead Team for approval. Provide guidance and assistance in moving projects forward and through the process.
- Break down barriers on behalf of Demand Portfolio managers and Demand Managers to allow initiatives to be launched successfully and work with Demand Portfolio Managers and Supervisor BA to remediate issues
- Provide portfolio process mentoring and leadership to Demand Portfolio Managers and Demand Managers globally
- Identify opportunities in the different regions that could have global alignment.
- Report progress to IT portfolio sponsors (ITLT and IT Steering Group) and engage them as necessary for decision-making and issue escalation
- Establish processes and guidelines for IT Portfolio Management practice globally and provide oversight and guidance on the practice
- Provide direction and guidance to Change Management Advisors to ensure appropriate level of engagement for management of change during initial stages of an initiative
- Provide direction and guidance to Enterprise Architecture to ensure appropriate level of engagement for applying IT architecture standards and frameworks
Qualifications:
- 10-15 years proven IT Planning, Project and Architecture experience.
- Experience working for an Oil and Gas Operator. Domain knowledge of upstream oil and gas.
- Experience with applications and technology platforms their relationship and impact to the enterprise.
- Bachelor of Commerce or Computer Science is considered an asset.
- PMP preferred, but not required
Candidate Profile:
- Broad understanding of IT functions as well as OG business functions and related applications.
- A solid knowledge of architecture and program management standards and practices as well as demonstrated success in the pragmatic use of these standards and practices in project and program environments.
- A solid knowledge of Corporate Strategy, Organizations, Functions, and Culture
- Proven success as a leader of people; able to delegate and achieve results through team-work directly (or virtual team-work).
- Influencing and negotiation skills.
- Excellent critical thinking, decision making, problem solving and analytical skills.
- Proven experience in relationship management and client support in a program environment.
- Outstanding skills in diplomacy, conflict management and inter-personal communications.
- Be innovative in developing and executing the portfolio plan.

- Business and IT strategy, Commercial and Finance Acumen
- Able to communicate at multiple levels in the organization: Business VP’s, Managers, Supervisors; IT Management, BA’s, PM’s.
- A track record as a pro-active, self-directed individual who is able to work independently.
- Must be able to work at a directional (strategic) level.
