Introduction: Montash Associates have been engaged by a Financial Services Technology Start-Up that has just received a massive chunk of investment for a brand new service that genuinely looks set to change Financial Services / Investment Banking. We will assist in the acquisition of the Java Core Architect / Developer who will build a team and create the complex technology behind the service.
The Organisation: A Financial Services Technology Start-Up that was formed in 2011. Investors and potential clients have flocked to the scene, and everything is in place for this group of high profile ex bankers and hedge fund managers to start providing their service. All that remains is to build the all-important technology platform behind the service.
The Team: You will join a small group of people who have come together to create something unique. You will be the first member of the Architecture / Development function, and will be given the remit to grow this team.
The Project: This is a from-scratch, completely Greenfield project. The software will be designed by you and the team that you build, and then developed by you and the team that you build.
The Role: Lead Java Core Architect / Developer on a brand new application.
The Skills:
Essential:
- Java/J2EE development (circa 5 years)
- 3+ years developing n-tier scalable architectures capable of processing millions of trades per day
- Team Lead capabilities
- Strong server side development experience
- TDD
- Previous experience either with a Hedge Fund or within a Prime Brokerage Team
Desirable:
- Data modelling, XML or ESB technologies
- Process modelling/workflow development
- SQL and Oracle database skills
- Workflow and data modelling development
- Reference and Market Data tools
- Strong working knowledge of the front to back trade flows for multiple asset classes
The Package: This firm is looking for people that will join this company for the long term. Based on this, they are offering equity to this individual, providing he/she joins and delivers. This company will explode in a couple of years in terms of profits, so this equity will undoubtedly be the most attractive part of the package. The base salary on offer is up to £100,000. Those who can’t see past the investment banking “one year base plus bonus” remuneration structure need not apply. This isn’t for everyone, but will surely be worth the while of the successful applicant when this company takes off.
