The Lead Marine Structures Engineer will oversee a team of Marine Engineers providing guidance and support on a daily basis. They will act as the first point of contact for internal and external clients in this area, take responsibility for all aspects of the marine engineering design components of projects and ensure the team operates in an efficient and effective manner. The position will work closely with the business unit representatives in scoping and establishing project requirements.
The Job!
● Act as Lead Marine Structures Engineer on large and small projects
● Manage marine structural engineering design work
● Undertake personal technical and business skill development.
● Assist with preparing bids and assist with Client Liaison.
● Undertake marketing activities with the Marine/Civil and Infrastructure Groups.
● Conduct investigations, prepare reports/ specifications, designs, and contract documents
● Liaise with other Civil, Water, Civil Structures, Marine Structures and Designer Drafter resource leads to assess hub resourcing requirements
● Identification of discipline resource requirements and management of existing discipline resources
● Lead the recruitment process for additional Marine Structures Engineers as required
● Responsible for the career and technical development of all Marine Structures Engineers within the group including conducting career development interviews, coaching
● Provide leadership and mentoring
● Performance management/salary review for all team members
● Arranging training for team members
● Management of quality deliverables and scope of work performed by the team
● Ensure effective deployment of hub safety plan
● Support global initiatives with respect to systems, software, worksharing and communities of practice
Requirements!
• Experienced Civil/Structural Engineer with a minimum of 15 years plus years experience in Ports / Marine design and construction projects such as container/bulk berthing facilities, breakwaters, jetties, offshore structures, Tug and barge facilities and operations, Vessel selection and design and berthing structures design
• Membership of Engineers Australia
• Sound knowledge of industry standards and Australian codes
• Strong leadership and management ability including excellent written and oral communication skills
• Developed negotiation, contractual and commercial skills
• Registered Professional Engineer Queensland (RPEQ) affiliation or eligibility
● Previous experience in a similar role
