Posted Position Title: Lead Mechanical Design Eng - Off Highway Truck Motors Career Level: Experienced Function Engineering/Technology Function Segment: Product Design and Development Location: United States U.S. State, China or Canada Provinces: Pennsylvania City: Lawrence Park Postal Code: 16531-0001 Relocation Assistance Yes Role Summary/Purpose: The Lead Mechanical Design Engineer - Off Highway Truck Motors demonstrates leadership in communicating business goals, programs, and processes for an area or business segment. In this role you will utilize your experience or expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others, and have the ability to effect short-term and some long-term business goals. Essential Responsibilities - Design new electro-mechanical machines or components for Locomotive, Off Highway Vehicle (OHV), or drill applications. The equipment includes industrial alternators, traction motors, and vetilation devices designed to meet specific requirements. - Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements - Meet the program deliverables, be responsible for verification and validation of the new machine designs - Coordinate with manufacturing, test labs, and sourcing teams on the new component introduction to meet customer requirements - Perform design and tolerance stack up calculations to meet product performance with manufacturing variations - Monitor and communicate project status, business issues, and significant developments - Provide technical leadership to personnel supporting the assigned project - Participate on teams assigned to address organizational initiatives and generic issues - Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews - Ensure proper documentation of technical data is generated for the assigned projects and / or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures. Qualifications/Requirements: - Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering - Minimum of 3 years of experience in the design of Off-highway, Locomotive, or similar industrial machines such as electrical drive systems, alternators, traction motors, or ventilation equipment. Additional Eligibility Qualifications GE will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in the United States for this opening. Desired Characteristics - Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering - Greater than 5 years of experience designing industrial electro-mechanical machines. - Strong technical aptitude, including applicable engineering tools and systems knowledge - Working Knowledge of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), MSHA and other national or international safety requirements - Strong understanding of electrical machines theory and application - Proficiency with engineering tools related to Stress analysis, Computational Fluid Dynamics, and Torsional Vibration Analysis such as Ansys, Fluent, Unigraphics, or equivalent - Experience in Six sigma tools and generating DFMEAs of components, subsystems using P-diagrams - Strong oral and written communication skills - Strong interpersonal and leadership skills - Personal Computer (PC) tools proficiency Why join one great company when you can join many?
