Posted Position Title: Lead Mechanical Design Engineer - Rotating Machinery Career Level: Experienced Function Engineering/Technology Function Segment: Product Design and Development Location: United States U.S. State, China or Canada Provinces: Ohio City: Vandalia Postal Code: 45377-3062 Relocation Assistance Yes Role Summary/Purpose: The Lead Mechanical Design Engineer - Rotating Machinery will be responsible for all the aspects of the high-speed rotating power generation equipment design for aerospace projects from conception to production transition involving significant scope and complexity with emphasis on performing analyses. You will utilize your experience or expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others, and have the ability to effect short-term and some long-term business goals. Essential Responsibilities In this role, you will: - Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements - Provide technical leadership to personnel supporting the assigned project - Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments - Participate on teams assigned to address organizational initiatives and generic issues - Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews - Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures Qualifications/Requirements: - Bachelors Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering - Minimum of 3 years of experience in an engineering position with design or analysis of rotating machinery Additional Eligibility Qualifications GE will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in the United States for this opening. Desired Characteristics - Masters Degree from accredited university or college - Ability to perform stress, fatigue, thermal and vibration finite element analyses using ANSYS software - Generator / motor design experience - Experience in aerospace component design - Ability to perform tolerance stackups and experience with G, D T - Experience in design for shock and high vibration environments - Experience in commercial certification of aerospace products - Solid oral and written communication skills - Strong interpersonal and leadership skills - Ability to write test procedures and test reports - Understanding of Design for Manufacturing - Understanding of manufacturing cost and reproducibility - Experience with Unigraphics (NX) Why join one great company when you can join many?
