LEAD MEDICAL TECHNOLOGIST Job in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania US

Job Summary

Performs blood tests and specialized procedures in Chemistry, Hematology, and Transfusion Medicine. Performs Microbiology culture plating techniques and gram stains. Is able to perform test processing in the Central Processing Department on all routine in-house and stat send-out specimens.  Acts under direction of the Core Laboratory Operations Manager or Director to organize and direct the activity on the overnight shift when necessary, in the Core Laboratory areas, Transfusion Medicine and Microbiology, including workstation coverage, quality assurance, quality control, instrumentation operation and technical problem solving activity.  Works in coordination with the Core Laboratory Operations Manager to assure delivery of accurate and timely laboratory services that meet the needs of our customers in a cost effective manner.

 

Skills Abilities:

Strong clinical laboratory and analytical skills.  Excellent written and oral communication skills.  Good interpersonal skills with experience in employee and customer satisfaction.  Basic financial skills. Basic computer skills, Sunquest v6.x experience preferred.  Demonstrates knowledge of age-specific skills from neonate to adult.  Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.  Performs a variety of complicated tasks.  Demonstrated leadership qualities with a degree of creativity and flexibility expected. Technologists performing testing or other tasks that require color discrimination should be able to distinguish colored items pertinent to the job.
