Leading Financial Services Client in the City of London now requires a Lead Oracle Engineer to manage the delivery of infrastructure engineering roadmaps for Oracle Database products.
The Lead Oracle Engineer will manage platform upgrade life-cycle in conjunction with vendor roadmaps and manage the delivery of Oracle Database engineering projects to the agreed scope, on time and budget ensuring that engineering projects satisfy governance criteria.
The Lead Oracle Engineer will manage the overall skills and resources within the Oracle engineering function, maintaining high quality technology knowledge, skills transfer, development and succession planning.
The ideal Lead Oracle Engineer:
- Strong general and current Technology knowledge in particular with respect to - technology deployment in FS (preferably Investment Banking)
- Experience of technology vendor relationships and partnerships in building, maintaining and leveraging technology products and services.
- Broad concepts of RDBMS platforms including Row vs Columar, Shared vs Shared nothing, OLTP vs DSS vs Analytics.
- Configuration, management, debugging and deployment of Oracle (including 10G and 11G, RAC, Dataguard, RMAN on Solaris and RHEL)
- Strong PL/SQL and Java o Veritas Clustering and Foundation products
- Backup and Recovery and Security best practice
- Monitoring and management products for specific databases o Unix scripting (Korn shell, Perl).
