Position Description:
BMC Software is looking to expand its team in the Houston office. This candidate should have experience will the following skills:
Defines, designs and implements network communications and solutions. Proposes and implements system enhancements (software and hardware updates) that will improve the performance and reliability of the system. Manages the load configuration of a central data communication processor and makes recommendations for purchase or upgrade of data networks. Coordinates terminal orders and cable installation, network system planning, upgrading, monitoring, testing and servicing. Approves action requests and specifies purchase requirements. Negotiates and places orders with common carriers. Analyzes, acquires, installs, modifies and supports operating systems, databases, utilities and Internet/intranet-related tools. Conducts systems programming and systems support activities, such as new or revised program language codes, processing routines and report generators. Monitors effective language codes, processing routines, hardware use and use of database management techniques. Modifies, maintains and updates. Develops and reviews operator and control instructions. Prepares and conducts system and programming tests requiring interfacing of hardware and software. Conducts programming tasks including program design, program coding, debugging and documentation. As directed, prepares feasibility studies and designs tests to determine operating characteristics of software. Develops, analyzes and maintains tools that support and automate processes for hardware or software product release. Writes installation scripts and programs for installation of products. Works with project teams to determine an appropriate build schedule and then initiates the build and packaging process. Compiles and assembles software from source code. Ensures tools are stored in source control. Supports developers for software package registry and delivery. Works with others to complete analysis, evaluations and design alternatives and to implement process improvements. Works with development engineers to correct build errors.
Position Requirements:
This position will be a part of the Commercial Sector RoD Application Support and provide level 3 hands-on support of the Remedy application. It will also provide technical leadership of the Level 1 and 2 support teammates.
This position will work very closely with:
• Level 1, 2, and 3 Database support
• Infrastructure support related to VM, OS patching, etc.
• IaaS vendor relationships and SLA’s across regions such as EMEA, US, and possibly Canada, APAC, etc.
• Support personnel located mainly in Pune and the US, but potentially in other locals as additional DC’s are brought online
• Strong experience with Windows, VMware, and clustering.
• Solid overall infrastructure skills around network, database, storage, etc.
• Must possess a collaborative work ethic, project coordination, drive to excel, troubleshooting capability, and demonstrate team player qualities
This position will also work very closely with leveraged Operations teams providing Application hot-fix deployment and upgrades.
• Candidate must demonstrate strong working knowledge of ITIL processes such as incident, problem, change and release management, have familiarity with image management and QA.
• Additional qualities entail a strong drive for continuous improvement, and efficiencies through automation.
