Our client is a leading global trading firm that has offices in multiple locations globally and a reputation for and innovate use of cutting edge technologies to solve capture financial markets opportunities. They have a highly mature, yet casual environment that looks to empower individuals to work autonomously on project whilst contributing to overall team objectives. Due to significant growth in the use of database technology to highlight market opportunities through a complex Data Model they are now looking for an additional Senior Software Developer.
The Team has been growing steadily over the last 5 years as it establishes knowledge from very large captured data sets to help show financial markets trends and opportunities. This is achieved through using OO principles on large and robust databases, and thus requires very strong technologists to manipulate the possibilities of what database coding can do to create new software tools and applications. They have one of the strongest technical make-ups of any database engineering team in Australia and are constantly looking to evolve through RAD / Protoyping new concepts to push the boundaries of information use.
The role is a highly technical position that will draw on your architectural understanding of the fundamentals of database construction to developer new solutions from a Database Entity and Server Application / End-User Application point of view. Thus the role is suited to an individual that has come from an OO Software Development background (Java, C++, C#, Pascal) and then developed a passion for Databases and uses of SQL Views and PL/SQL Packages with an emphasis on minimizing Procedural Code.
Requirements of the role:
- 10yrs + in Software Developer – Any Language (Java, C++, C#, Pascal)
- Intimate understanding of Object Orientated Methodologies
- Library Development and Interface Development Experience
- 5yrs + in Database Development – ORACLE PL/SQL , SQL
- Extensive understanding of Database Design Principles
- Strong Problem Ownership and Innovative methodologies for resolution
- Leadership and Mentoring ability for junior developers
- Experience or Interest in Trading / Financial Markets / Capital Markets
