Lead Software Engineer: Trading Strategies (java) recruitment

 A global HFT firm, based in Chicago, is actively seeking a Lead Trading Strategy, Software Engineer.  This position will require strong  Java development skills and Mathematical aptitude to lead of a high profile Trading Strategies development team.

The strategy development team is a highly focused group of extremely talented engineers. Their primary responsibility is to code innovative trading technology by developing and perfecting proprietary trading algorithms running on a high-performance, electronic trading platform.

Our client is looking for an exceptional Lead Java developer. This firm is known for only ever hiring the best of the best (and paying them incredibly well).  A Lead Java Developer must have excellent industry experience, an ability to produce multithreaded, low latency applications and who is considered “best amongst peers.”

Responsibilities include improving the scalability, performance and efficiency of existing strategies, as well as collaborating with Quantitative Traders to code new strategies.  The latest versions of Java will be used on this project. It is essential that applicants have a deep, low level understanding of Java e.g. garbage collection etc. An expert ability to produce multithreaded code to an advanced level is very attractive e.g. dead locking, control locks etc. Candidates must possess expert skills in OO Design and multithreading, and must be well versed in the most complex areas e.g. Polymorphism etc. The team also works with C++, so any experience of this is highly attractive

Requirements:

• A minimum of 5 years working with Core Java

• Strong mathematical aptitude; background in math, physics, or statistics is a plus.

• Experience in distributed and/or highly concurrent systems is a plus.

• Experience in low-latency systems and/or high transaction environments are a plus.

• Interest in trading and financial markets.

• Enjoy working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
