Lead Solutions Architect – Hands On with Line Management
Based in Berkshire on the M4 Corridor
This is a rare role within Financial Services and will offer excellent career opportunities for the right individual and exposure to some cutting edge technologies. The successful candidate will have previous hands on experience working as Architecture lead on large scale multiyear projects as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Translate business requirements (both functional and non-functional) into a solution, ensuring compliance with the enterprise architecture and strategy, policies and standards
- Direct line management
- Assure that the development of architectures for complex systems leads to successful delivery and operation
- Contribute to, promote and ensure a set of standard methods to define architectures to improve quality of deliverables, reduce development risks and improve management control of projects
- Review and approve all key architectural deliverables to ensure the solution is compliant with the architectural specification and standards
- Take responsibility for identifying, quantifying and mitigating risks associated with the solution, to ensure effective control of technical risks
- Maintain, apply and share a broad industry and technology awareness to maintain best practice and be a recognised subject matter expert within the organisation
- Communicate at both project and strategic levels with customers, suppliers and users both internal and external
- Assist in the preparation of technical programme/project plans
- Provide advice, guidance and mentoring to less experienced colleagues, including performance feedback as appropriate
- Experience of delivering the architecture of large-scale, complex systems and solutions
- Possess relevant industry experience with a specific focus on highly-available, low-latency transaction processing systems
- Previous experience of working in a mission critical, real time 24x7 environment
- Familiarity with all stages of the software development life-cycle and the typical problems associated with the implementation of large-scale distributed systems
- Strong technical background with practical experience
- Knowledge of the PRINCE2 project management methodology
- Knowledge of architecture frameworks such as TOGAF
- Experience of OO, design patterns, UML and software development methodologies (such as RUP)
- Good appreciation of change management, configuration management, and development tools and techniques
- Be a strategic thinker but also outcome orientated
- Be self-starting, self-motivating and globally aware
