ATK Aerospace Systems in Beltsville, MD is currently recruiting for a Lead Spacecraft Electrical Power Systems Engineer Job Summary : - Responsible for a Lead role and ensuring program success. - Responsible for the design, analysis, documentation, integration and test of satellite spacecraft electrical power systems. This includes design and analysis of power requirements, energy balance modeling, grounding configurations, photovoltaic power systems, battery charging circuits and various types of batteries commonly used on spacecraft. - Responsible for Requirements definition and flow down, interface definition and control, configuration management and risk mitigation. - Responsible for the definition of electrical ground support equipment for the testing and integration of spacecraft power systems. - Responsible for analyses of day-in-the-life and multi-day scenarios of spacecraft power systems under varying CONOPS activities. - Responsible for technical subcontract management of key power system component suppliers including generation of Specification and Statement of Work documents. - Travel, as required, to customer, contractor, launch sites and control center locations for reviews, technical coordination, oversight, integration test, training, launch and on-orbit operations. Minimum Requirements : - BS Electrical Engineering or MS Electrical Engineering required. A MS in Electrical Engineering preferred. - Minimum of 10 years directly relevant experience required; this position can be filled at a lower level requiring 7 years of directly relevant experience. - Direct LEO/GEO Spacecraft flight power systems development experience is required. - Experience with Satellite Spacecraft power system components (solar arrays, batteries, charging circuits, wiring) and energy balance modeling is required. - Ability to acquire a DoD Top Secret/SSBI Security Clearance is required, which usually requires US Citizenship as a pre-requisite. Active DoD Top Secret/SSBI clearance preferred. - Previous responsibility for a program required. - Must have sufficient expertise to independently perform the job responsibilities with minimal direct supervision. Desired: - Strong experience in design and analysis of power requirements, energy balance modeling, grounding configurations, photovoltaic power systems, battery charging circuits and various types of batteries commonly used on spacecraft highly preferred. - Previous responsibility for the success of a Satellite Spacecraft EPS program. - Background with proposal development including technical write-up, schedule and costing preferred - Background in technical subcontract management preferred Characteristics for Success: - Strong oral and written communications skills - Self managed and self starter - Able to work well as part of a team ATK has the people, strategy, agility, and products to thrive in a highly dynamic national security and space environment.
