Role Summary/Purpose

Essential Responsibilities

  • Provide/Review and certify/approve IT estimates for Build/Test and Run components related to application
  • Consult with project management team on application architecture considerations during prioritization of incident resolution, change controls, etc. for release
  • Lead and provide expertise to development teams, systems engineering team and service delivery teams to create detailed technical and functional requirements
  • Review and provide input for high-level design, consider impacts on overall application design, and review with development teams; both in-house and outsourced responsible for detailed design
  • Ensure documentation is discussed as part of Application review at certification meetings, as a required component for Systems Engineering approval
  • Review and certify/approve design and test deliverables for ongoing run fixes
  • Participate in addressing incident root causes, incident resolution and provide direction in problem resolution
  • Participate in finding ways to increase efficiency, minimize operating expense and improve system performance, offering improvement suggestions where appropriate
  • Ensure compliance with architecture, security, and technology standards set by GE Capital/ GE Retail finance, change control standards and release management (includes freeze adherence)
  • Serve as technical expert on application(s) within team of systems engineers
  • Provides insight and guidance based on lessons learned and best practices
  • Monitor application code quality through development, test, and QA
  • Conduct/participate in code reviews
  • Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned

    Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum 5 years of experience working in JDBC/JMS/EJBs/Servlets/SOAP containers/Clustering Weblogic instances/J2EE/Oracle/App server administration
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in Unix scripting, monitoring, and maintaining a 3 tiered application
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in DB technologies, SQl, stored procedures, data modeling, and DB tuning
  • Minimum 3 years of credit card processing experience
  • Minimum 2 years of experience leading a team of developers

    Desired Characteristics

  • Understand how to design, build and implement system infrastructure. Strong knowledge in hardware/software architecture and operating system fundamentals (Unix and Linux)
  • Familiar with functional design principles and formal documentation techniques/procedures
  • Strong experience in customer service systems and the interdependency of upstream and downstream systems
  • Strong organization and project management experience in working across multiple diverse teams
  • Significant experience developing and supporting information systems
  • Oracle Receivables implementation and support experience
  • Strong business acumen and successful track record of aligning with customers
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to influence clients, team members, management and external groups
  • Expertise in a variety of tools and languages
  • Ability to work on all phases of complex work assignments
  • Ability to analyze, use structured problem solving and available tools to troubleshoot systems, identify root cause, action plans, impact and resolution options
  • Understanding of technical architecture and strategies of GE Money systems and of the various business functions
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently or in a team environment
  • Superior oral and written communication, analytical and problem solving skills
  • Strong cross-functional team player with the ability to work seamlessly across a matrix organization and Global Development Consultants (GDCs)
