JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work with customer(s) to define information requirements for potential applications.
- Research available tools and technologies to determine alternative technology solutions.
- Conduct cost/benefit or feasibility analyses to provide recommendations on alternative approaches.
- Develop or acquire, test, and implement new or enhanced integrated applications.
- Train customer(s) on the use of integrated applications to ensure optimal use of the application.
- Provide ongoing support for customer(s) for assigned applications including trouble shooting and problem resolution.
- Document the application for technical and customer reference.
- Create and design IT solutions to streamline the core business of schools/colleges/divisions/units.
- Integrate solutions with existing IT systems and services.
- Work with customer to develop work plans and key deliverables.
- Implement and maintain developed solutions.
- Provide 24/7 production support for developed solutions.
- Create and design IT solutions, including web-based applications and services, to streamline the core business of WSU Administrative Applications Users.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Knowledge of multiple IT tools and technologies available including applications programming languages, operating systems, and hardware configurations.
- Knowledge of basic business practices.
- Skill in solving complex analytical problems.
- Skill in oral and written communication.
- Ability to take a complex problem and break it down into logical parts.
- Ability to work effectively with customers, interpreting their issues and translating them into workable solutions.
- Proficiency in the use of basic applications programming languages, tools, and/or methodologies for developing integrated applications typically acquired through formal education or equivalent experience in applications systems development.
- Demonstrated ability in analyzing customer requirements and developing basic information systems solutions typically acquired through one to two years of directly related experience in application development and/or support.
- This is the leadership level where incumbents are fully qualified in all aspects of system integration. They have a high level of technical expertise in platforms, applications, tools, and methodologies along with a broad knowledge of the customer area or function supported.
- As project leaders, they are responsible for providing technical work direction to project staff including reviewing work, setting time schedules, and assisting in technical development activities.
- The majority of their time is spent in project planning and management activities but they may be called upon to assist in the development of highly complex integrated systems where their expertise is of value.
- Ability to take a complex problem and break it down into logical parts.
- Advanced skills in database stored procedures programming, PL/SQL preferred.
- Ability to work effectively with customers, interpreting their issues and translating them into workable solutions.
- Extensive experience and proficiency in the PHP programming language.
- Experience in web design and web programming, including CCS, HTML, XML, SOAP, JQuery, JSON and Javascript.
- Experience in developing and delivering web-based applications that integrate directly with complex relational databases.
- Extensive experience with SQL.
- Experience in recognizing security vulnerabilities in code.
- Experience in cross-browser testing.
- Extensive experience in creating browser-agnostic web applications.
- Experience with integrating existing open source and proprietary technologies where appropriate.
- Considerable experience with working in a collaborative, team programming environment.
- Experience with the development and programming of integrated authentication systems using LDAP.
- Experience with network topologies such as TCP/IP networks and firewalls.
- Experience with Windows, Linux and Macintosh environments.
- Some experience with ColdFusion.
- Some experience with code repositories such as SVN and CSV.
- Some experience in the deployment and management of Apache-based web servers.
- Advanced skills in Visual Basic.Net, MS Office VBA, PHP, JavaScript, MySQL, and HTML/DHTML.
- Some knowledge of CRM preferred.
- Some knowledge of Appworx is preferred.
- Some knowledge of Banner is preferred.
- Proficient in the use of multiple IT software development tools and associated technologies including a wide variety of programming languages, operating systems and hardware configurations.
- Considerable experience and ability to conduct software development on multiple distributed platforms.
- Some knowledge of Database Integration.
- Some knowledge of Microsoft Project.
- Knowledge of Project Management Methodologies experience.
