Lead Technical Architect – J2EE, Webservices, Unix recruitment

Position Description

A role exists for a Technical Architect who will lead the design and implementation of the architecture for integration of a firmwide web based application. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering this architecture and reaching agreement with other senior technologist and architectural committees for its implementation. The role may require building a team for implementing this Architecture and therefore technical leadership is required.

This is part of a major infrastructure initiative at Morgan Stanley aiming at the identification of the data critical to its global operations and the definition of a higher standard of care for such data. This includes the anointment and communication of Authoritative Sources of Enterprise Data and the measurement of compliance to this standard by key control processes throughout the firm.

A central piece is a firmwide web based application which allows system owners to document and agree the flow and scope of data for their applications. The application will continue to grow with initiatives planned in this and coming years. One of the major initiatives is to leverage multiple major technologies used for data movement between applications in the Firm, to capture physical data handshakes around the organisation. This will be used to automate the discovery of data flows and to visualise the resulting data network in the UI.

Skills Required

- Experience in a technical architect role in large enterprise systems.

- Experience in developing integration patterns for software applications to interoperate and exchange data - SOA products, Web Services, EAI, etc

- Experience in design and implementation of Web Services

- Experience of being a technical lead in large enterprise projects, with specific experience in building web based enterprise applications a plus

- Experience and thorough understanding of applications server's services and functions (e.g. Web Logic, Glassfish or Apache/Tomcat server)

- Programming experience, especially in Java and Unix scripting
