GENERAL SUMMARY:
Laureate, Inc. is currently looking to add a seasoned Lead User Experience Designer with a portfolio of outstanding conceptual design, information architecture, interaction design and visual design skills, especially for interactive websites and applications. Our team delivers high-quality, scalable, hosted, student-facing learning applications to scholars around the world. We are a multi-disciplinary team that creates high-quality business solutions for mobile, web and desktop platforms that people look forward to using every day.

The UX Design Lead will manage the entire User Experience life-cycle, gaining a deep understanding of user needs and motivations, developing personas and storyboards, and communicating the experience in compelling ways to stakeholders across the organization.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
' Defines the user experience in a way that reflects best practices in UX design and usability
' Creates robust wireframes and mock-ups that fulfill product requirements in innovative ways
' Effectively communicates the vision to stakeholders inside and outside of the organization
' Conducts End-user and Domain Expert research, including focus groups, survey and prototype testing
' Drives rapid design iterations based on user feedback, technical constraints and market dynamics
' Sets the direction and standards for screen imagery, including icons, content flow and navigation elements as well as lead design reviews
' Guides and defines standards and best practices for UX Design that reflects a user-centered orientation and excellent visual design
' Serves as team leader for design efforts, interacting with business and development teams
' Researches and implements new UX techniques and technologies
' Mentors junior UX Design staff in story development, visual design, and the hierarchy of graphic design
' Stays current on targeted platform functionality and enhancements

' Bachelor's degree (BA or BS) from a four-year college or university in a related field.
' 7+ years of experience in UX design for web and/or desktop applications
' Experience in UX design for mobile platforms a must
' Experience in Interface Design, Interaction Design and/or Information Architecture is preferred
' Portfolio showcasing UX excellence at all stages of development, creativity, depth of thought, and engineering feasibility
' Experience performing as a team lead is a strongly preferred.
' Working knowledge of modern interfaces and their visual metaphors ' including Win7, Win8, Windows Mobile, Apple OSX (Lion and/or Snow Leopard), Apple iOS, Linux (KDE and/or Gnome) and Android (v3 or later)
' Demonstrated proficiency with modern design tools such as OmniGraffle and Visio is a must
' Proficiency with Adobe Photoshop and Fireworks is a plus
' Excellent problem-solving skills and a self-starting attitude are essential.
' Excellent analytical and design skills are required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
' Bachelor's degree (Master's preferred) in Human-Computer Interaction or related field
