Lead/Manager UNIX Systems Engineer; electronic trading firm in NYC
* Manage 24x7 Operations team and systems
* Decrease down time through operational improvements (tools and process)
* Ensure baseline of middleware, OS, and hardware
* Assess and improve system security
* Oversee and coordinate business applications deployment
* Implement, document, and manage the Business Continuity Plan
* Perform capacity analysis, relief sizing and timing for computing platforms growth
* Collaborate with application development team on roadmap, automation, and rollout process improvement across multiple environments
Soft Skill Requirements:
* Given our highly dynamic environment, excellent interpersonal and communication skills as well as an ability to quickly learn are a MUST
* Must be able to sustain a high rate of workflow and work on multiple projects
Requirements:
* 7+ years of UNIX System administration or 3rd level UNIX support engineer for a financial company
* UNIX Operating Systems (Solaris-10 and Linux: a MUST)
* UNIX distributed systems in enterprise-class environments
* B.S degree or more in Computer Science, Systems and/or appropriate certifications
* At least one significant managerial experience
* Broad Knowledge of Sun hardware and another major hardware vendors (HP, IBM, etc)
* Serious knowledge of tools which assist in understanding of a machine's behavior
* Knowledge of how to modify kernel and device driver behavior
* NIS, NFS, DNS, Automounter, NTP, and SMTP
* Demonstrated ability with Shell programming
* Solid knowledge of Visio, PowerPoint, Project, and Excel
