Role Description

Committing to the LEAN programme for at least 12-14 months, the LEAN Expert/Designate will play a predominant role within the “strategic” 15 week projects – an intense methodology which includes mindset transformations for a specific scope: e.g. a specific product area and location, or cross product and global. The candidate will need an extensive knowledge of the LEAN 5D methodology and help apply the LEAN tools in the most effective way to guarantee successful delivery within the 15 week timeframe.

The candidate will be a catalyst for change to facilitate significant performance improvement within his project and will gain a holistic view of the overall strengths and weaknesses of a department.

Core objectives include: Lead the delivery of targeted process reviews utilising Business Engineering tools, assist management with the setting of targets and lead a team of 6-8 individuals. Frequent interaction with senior management interaction gives the candidate high responsibility and visibility.

Tasks / Responsibilities

 1. Conducting projects as part of a team, using the 5D LEAN methodology

- Top down analysis and bottom-up observations

- Clear planning and execution of improvement actions in a condensed timeframe

- Synthesis of main findings of analysis

- Preparing and facilitating workshops

- Raising awareness and getting buy in for change

2. Managing the project progression on a day-to-day

3. Root cause analysis of identified problem areas

4. Key metric definition and ongoing performance review

5. Challenging the current operating environment

6. Identifying innovative value added solutions

7. Documentation and presentation of findings

8. Project planning and implementation

Experience | Exposure

Critical:

• Good problem-solving skills, able to identify and structure issues, run accurate analyses and synthesize recommendations

• Focused on results

• Taking information from real life observations, not theory

• Willing to spend time on the floor

• Good with people – able to listen, handle and resolve team tensions

• Able to lead workshops and working groups, check activities against promises/commitments

• Good communications skills across all levels

• Good team player, knows how to build his/her own network

Essential:

• Visionary, able to design appealing visions of the future/ thinking out of the box

• Never satisfied with current performance/searching for perfection/attracted by tough challenges

• Risk-friendly, able to take a decision quickly without mastering all parameters

• Doing everything possible to get things done on time

• Able to work with limited direction

Preferred:

• Subject matter expertise in one or more of: Derivatives, Equities, Rates, Credit, FX, Commodities

• Project management and/or re-engineering experience

• Project management qualification

• Lean or Six Sigma or Lean Six Sigma Certification

Exposure (Recommended)

2/3 waves at Lean Designate level.
