Learning Tech Prod Specialist

The Learning Technology Production Specialist (LTPS) oversees and assists with the production of technology-supported learning and performance support solutions that result in improving business performance, increasing workforce capability, and/or increasing employee engagement. The LTPS sees projects through from high-level design or storyboard through development and testing to deployment and ongoing maintenance and support. At each stage in the production process, the LTPS reviews work and provides feedback or manages those involved to improve the quality, effectiveness, and usability of learning and performance support products. The LTPS identifies, qualifies, and manages vendors to execute portions of or all of the production process. The LTPS constantly looks for opportunities to improve quality and timeliness and reduce costs. Essential Functions and Responsibilities: ? Analyzes objectives, audiences, and content of projects to determine production type and complexity. ? Estimates workload (timing and volume) by type and complexity (level 1, 2 or 3) and duration of e-learning course or other learning technology solution by working collaboratively with the leadership in LOE to plan, budget, and estimate. ? Compares actual workload to projected workload and responds to adjustments, if needed Vendor production management ~ Identifies, selects, and manages the production of e-learning and other technical solutions through a robust vendor management process. ? Recommends vendors to use for production processes o Identifies potential vendors for given tasks o Conducts due diligence on short-listed vendors o Recommends priorities for selection to management o After receiving approval from management, completes the contracting process ? Assigns projects to vendors ? Accepts production requests from LOE staff o Determines how to proceed with the request; whether to provide the staff member with tools and materials to complete production on his or her own or to send it to a vendor o Ensures that the project is ready for the vendor; if not, provides specific feedback so the LOE staff member can address oversights o Provides the vendor with clear instructions so that the resulting intervention is produced to specifications o Serves as liaison between the requester in LOE and the vendor o Manages scope creep o Ensures that the product produced by the vendor meets specifications before releasing to the LOE staff member for review ? Works with leaders, Performance Consultants, and Performance Solution Specialists to identify, select, and manage vendors for innovative prototypes and projects. ? As required, creates or edits e-learning courses. Process management ~ Establishes, documents, maintains, and continually improves the LOE learning technology production processes. ? Establishes and maintains the LOE production process ? Documents the entire production and vendor processes ? Documents the standards for appropriate input for production ? Documents the editorial, technical, and production standards for all materials produced by LOE ? Initiates the creation of templates, reusable code, and similar resources to expedite the production process and assist LOE staff in completing production of their own work, when feasible ? The LTPS negotiates changes in scope, budget, and solution design with LOE leadership. ? The LTPS holds internal requestors and vendors responsible for adhering to agreed-upon production processes, standards, and timelines. ? Manages multimedia content libraries used in the production process. ? Ensures that all templates, standards, and guidelines conform to similar editorial, technical and production standards for LOE and Lowe?s. Testing implementation ~ Oversees or conducts the testing and monitoring of e-learning and other learning technologies to ensure their successful implantation within the Learning Management Systems and Lowe?s technical infrastructure. ? Tests or oversees the testing of new e-learning and other learning technologies to ensure that they function as designed within Lowe?s Learning Management System (LMS) and technical infrastructure. POSITION REQUIREMENTS ? Basic instructional design skills ? Experience with the design and use of learning and communications technology ? Hands-on production experience with e-learning. ? Familiarity with current technology solutions and how to blend to achieve business results ? Excellent verbal and written communication skills ? Project management skills ? Undergraduate degree in a discipline appropriate to the areas of responsibility ? Two or more years of work experience as an e-Learning Designer / Developer, Learning Technologist, or equivalent. ? Experience with the use of most major learning and performance support technologies. ? Experience with e-learning authoring tools. ? Experience with the design and use of learning, communications, and performance support technology ? Ongoing use of most major technologies used for learning and performance improvement; design experience with several of them. ? Experience with production of multimedia material ? Three or more years of working on content production (ideally, e-learning) ? Experience working with vendors PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS ? Graduate degree in a discipline appropriate to the areas of responsibility, such as Instructional / Learning Technology; Training / Learning Development; Instructional Systems Design; Technical Communications, Business Communications, Information Technology; Management Information Systems; Computer Science; and/or Management. ? Relevant industry / professional certifications or credentials ? PMP or equivalent project management certification ?
