Legal and Compliance Assistant Manager/Manager recruitment

Reporting directly to the General Counsel and Company Secretary this is an opportunity to join a growing retail banking firm with a high performance culture and friendly working environment.

In this role your primary responsibilities include the following:
* Undertake a broad range of legal work including review drafting of documents and review sign-off of marketing material
* Provide commercially relevant legal advice to Business Units, including assessing legal risks and providing options
* Monitor and provide advice on legal and regulatory changes and assist Business Units to develop strategies to address those changes
* Assist Business Units in management of complaints
* Participate in business projects including identification and management of legal risks relating to those projects
* Provide legal and compliance support to Business Units
* Review and draft compliance training
* Oversee the BCP and AML programs
* AML and Privacy Officer
* Member of WHS Committee
* Primary contact for External Dispute Resolution Scheme and Mutual Banking Code of Practice Compliance Committee
* Maintain breach register and advise Business Units on breaches reportable to regulators
* Complete statutory and other returns (e.g. AUSTRAC, ACL, MBCoP)
* Implement and maintain the Compliance Plan, using control self assessment and compliance monitoring
* Deliver timely and effective reporting
* Assist the General Counsel and Company Secretary, as required
* Other legal and compliance duties, as directed

Qualifications:
* Legal qualifications with minimum 3 years PAE in retail banking
* Good understanding of risk and compliance principles and frameworks
* Demonstrated experience in retail banking including lending
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills
* Proficiency in Microsoft applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PP)
