Aufgabengebiet:
The Legal Affairs department for the region Europe is responsible for the legal support to all business activities in Europe and currently consists of eleven company lawyers in Europe.
The department is part of a global Legal Affairs organization with over 60 company lawyers worldwide structured on a regional basis with global functional legal support.
We are looking for a highly motivated company lawyer, preferably with a German qualification to expand the international profile of the department, who will report to the Senior Legal Counsel and who will work in a team of six company lawyers.
The position
- You will be responsible for a broad variety of international oriented commercial legal work
- You will provide all-round legal support to business units and functional departments allocated to you
- You will be responsible for the legal affairs of the manufacturing and commercial companies of the group in Germany
- You will actively advise business management in the decision making process indicating legal options and constraints
- You will draft, negotiate and implement various international commercial contracts (such as sales, procurement, distributor and agency agreements) with counterparties in different jurisdictions
- You will support projects of the business units allocated to you (which may include international commercial transactions as well as MA and joint-venture projects of different complexity)
- You will contribute to and drive inter-company projects in liaison with colleagues in other regions, particularly in the Middle East and the US such as inter-company agreements, and corporate risk and compliance matters.
- You will handle legal proceedings and supervise the related activities of outside counsels
Anforderungsprofil:
- You are a German qualified lawyer (2nd state exam)
- Your focus is on commercial law and projects, but you are able to identify critical issues in fields such as competition law, corporate law, export controls, international trade and compliance in general
- You have 3-6 years relevant experience as an in-house counsel or in private practice in an international setting. A previous experience in a similar position in the chemical industry would be a strong asset
- You have a fluent command of English (which is the working language within SABIC) and German, both spoken and written. Knowledge of one or more other languages is a plus.
- You are internationally minded, able to handle transactions in different jurisdictions and operate in a multi-cultural environment
- You are a strong personality with a keen business sense and a hands-on pro-active attitude
