We are looking for a Legal Counsel- Funds to join our Asset Management Legal team. You will be reporting to the Head of Legal and will be involved in providing advice and guidance on all legal matters pertaining to the life cycle of UCITS funds, including regulation, corporate/commercial issues and trading documentation.
As part of the global business you will gain significant exposure to decision makers and will be able to make recommendations impacting our strategy.

As a Legal Counsel your main responsibilities will involve:
- Handling legal matters related to corporate entities and general business activities, and/or company mutual funds for specific legal functions as assigned;
- Advising and negotiating of investment management and similar agreement
- Reviewing and updating Prospectus and other Fund Management documentation where necessary;
- Reviewing and negotiating broker terms and trading documentation e.g. ISDA, IFEMA, GMSLA, etc ;
- Advising on the impact of any relevant regulation;
- Ad-hoc support for responses to regulatory requests
- Raising legal risks and other appropriate risks with the business in a timely manner and monitoring value for money from the providers of external legal advice;
- Providing day to day legal advice across all Santander Asset Management business units to best meet their business needs and to maintaining good working relationships through active communication, facilitation and teamwork.
As a Legal Counsel your Skills and Qualifications will include:
- Qualified Solicitor, PQE of five years+
- Experience gained preferably in a global investment management firm or with a leading law firm with in-house secondment experience
- Experience of related regulation: UCITS IV COLL guidelines
- Broad documentation experience (including drafting and negotiating) of: IMA''s, Distribution Agreements, SLA''s, Prospectus updates, IT agreements and Marketing documentation
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- A strong sense of ownership of tasks and responsibilities is essential. The ability to work and thrive in a team environment is also required
Salary: up to £70,000 + £6,000 car allowance and excellent benefits
