Legal Specialist Assistant Manager
The Legal Papers Served Department ("LPS") receives legal papers in high volume and directs them to the appropriate departments within the organization for handling. This position involves co-managing the LPS team and working closely with the LPS team in (i) researching and identifying legal papers, (ii) routing legal papers to the appropriate area and (iii) meeting data entry and reporting requirements. This position also involves interfacing with attorneys and lines of business ("LOB") that receive legal papers to ensure legal papers are properly delivered, documented and handled. The Assistant Manager will (i) assign work and (ii) track work flow by, among other things, developing weekly reports showing the number and types of documents that come in and are processed. The Assistant Manager will aid LPS staff in prioritizing with respect to processing legal papers so that time sensitive matters are addressed right away. When applicable, the Assistant Manager will use LOB systems to properly identify the bank's interest in a matter/legal papers so as to aid LPS staff with their researching and prioritizing duties. Overall, the Assistant Manager will need to perform daily managerial functions and, at times, hands on tasks with the staff to ensure that legal papers are processed timely and efficiently/ that productivity goals are met. -Manage staff performance and daily output -Oversee day to day performance by staff - Create procedures for staff to maximize their efficiency and productivity -Work on enhancing output -Report to Management on output -Provide training to staff on electronic/computer systems used for inputting, sending and tracking documents and in other areas -Work with staff in reviewing and identifying legal papers for assignment to the appropriate LOB or legal department -Communicate with in-house and outside attorneys to identify the bank's interest in an action, if unknown -Communicate with Chase LPS offices in other cities to maintain an organized and sensible flow of work among multiple sites -Prioritize work and effectively manage time for you and the LPS team/staff -Interface effectively with senior management, attorneys, title companies and other third parties -Work independently and as a team member -Work with minimum supervision
