LENDING SPECIALIST

 

Central One Federal Credit Union is seeking a full-time Lending Specialist for its Shrewsbury Branch. PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:  Assist members seeking home equity, conforming and non-conforming consumer loans within lending authority and limitations. Perform a variety of duties promoting and selling all Credit Union (COFCU) services to new and existing members.  Providing world class service to our members is our top priority!

 

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

1.      Take new mortgage applications, review appraisals and request legal / appraisal services when needed. Continue to follow up on file until closed.

2.      Send commitment letter and application, along with any required disclosures, for member to review and sign.

3.      Provide information and counseling to members on all COFCU savings, home equities, conforming and nonconforming consumer loans and ancillary products, services, policies and procedures

4.      Generate business through promoting and cross-selling all COFCU programs and encourage new credit union membership

5.      Develop business by visiting dealerships, calling realtors and placing follow-up calls to MSC leads 

6.      Conduct home equity and consumer loan interviews, explaining various loan products and requirements, as needed. Underwrite indirect loans within approved guidelines.

7.      Perform credit investigations, review and approve loans within guidelines and lending authority

8.      Knowledge of various mortgage products; ability to speak confidently about mortgage products and accurately complete mortgage applications

9.      Make recommendations to appropriate level of lending authority for all loans outside of individual authority.

10.  Determine collateral needs, ascertain disclosure requirements, conduct closings and disburse funds on approved loans.

11.  Provide financial counseling to members with respect to adverse loan decisions, repayment schedules, securities and other loan related problems.

12.  Develop relationships and attain applicable COFCU sales goals

13.  Act as a Mortgage Loan Originator as defined by the SAFE Act, fulfilling all requirements to maintain an active federal registration in the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry (NMLS)

14.  Maintain community involvement and participate in special projects, as needed

15.  Adhere to all applicable policies, procedures and regulations

16.  Responsible for staying current on job related equipment, procedures and information via attendance at meetings and seminars and reading various memos, handouts and publications.

17.  Perform miscellaneous duties, as requested

 

PREREQUISITES:

 

Education:     High School graduate, plus business, technical or college training

Experience:               2 to 5 years experience in a loan department of a credit union or financial institution, or related experience

Skills:              Analytical ability; ability to make decisions and do detailed work; ability to work efficiently and accurately in a fast-paced environment; skilled in the use of general office machines and computers; proven ability to sell, cross-sell and achieve goals; interact professionally face-to-face, on the telephone and through electronic means
