Position Description
Manages employees performing engineering and technical activities in the area of Integration Support Engineering. Develops and executes project and process plans, implements policies and procedures and sets operational goals. Acquires resources for projects and processes, provides technical management of suppliers and leads process improvements. Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports. Provides oversight and approval of technical approaches, products and processes. Manages, develops and motivates employees.

Manage an integrated group of engineers and/or technical designers for 787 Engineering Liaison in North Charleston, South Carolina, supporting Assembly and Integration (88-19 Bldg). This job involves staffing and directing a technical team in establishing group goals, managing budgets, monitoring group performance against program and functional commitments, and developing technical employees within the group. Responsibilities include: ensure support of Materials Review Board (MRB) operations, design changes for corrective action and producibility, technical and analytical support to production centers and support of functional initiatives. This position will require managing projects, nonconformance issues, certification requirements, MRB delegation/oversight, and interface with Operations, Quality, Engineering, airlines, regulatory agencies and supplier/partners. The candidate will function in a diverse, teaming environment and needs to be adept at training and motivating people. Application of Lean Principles throughout the business process is preferred. Must have excellent people skills, be a capable project manager and possess the ability to interface successfully with airlines, suppliers and other functions within Boeing. Must have a good working knowledge of the engineering organizations and possess a working-together attitude and the ability to obtain the appropriate level of management support for quick issue resolution. Current MRB certification is required. Cross-Boeing Commercial Airplane (BCA) engineering discipline experience and knowledge is highly desired. Knowledge of BCA processes and procedures is required. The candidate should have good decision making and problem solving skills, strong organization skills, and good leadership skills for motivating employees and assisting in their development. Successful candidates will have the ability to accept direction and work with others toward shared goals; capable of multi-tasking while working in a dynamic organization with a diverse workforce. Lean+ knowledge, leadership and experience highly valued. Requires educational credentials meeting the classification standards for engineers, ABET accreditation preferred. Typical candidates would possess at least 5 years of related engineering experience and a minimum of 2 years management or leadership experience dealing with commercial aircraft design or support is desired. This position may require a temporary assignment in Puget Sound for training and orientation. All employees will be on the Boeing South Carolina benefit structure.
