Life Actuary – Vice President recruitment
Join the Life Health team of this Global leader. This role will provide support to the risk function across Asia in the development and execution of the risk strategy for Asia. Whilst being responsible for understanding and assessing business data, performing required actuarial valuations for internal and external purposes and communicating these results to appropriate functional areas. In addition to preparing internal and external regulatory sign-offs of quarterly and annual reporting requirements, this role will also perform independent actuarial and risk assessments on transactions and terms of trade, and advises the Regional risk team on material risk issues.
Duties for this role will cover whilst not be limited to -
- Conduct large transaction risk reviews and Group projects
- Assist in monitoring of regulatory developments in the region and likely business impacts
- Review and provide risk management sign-off on LH terms of trade and LH deal referrals
- Review and assess the changing landscape of regulatory capital requirements in the region and advise accordingly as to potential business impact and opportunities
- Complete the quarterly and annual valuations (statutory, US GAAP and EVM bases) on assigned portfolios, for sign off purposes (key output: quarterly reserve reports and relevant local branch reporting)
- Communicate these results to the Regional Reserving Committee (RRC) on a quarterly basis
- Understand exposures through effective interactions with other functional departments
- Complete all LH local statutory reserving and reporting requirements of the regulators in assigned branches
- Assists, in conjunction with other functional areas, in the preparation of business planning deliverables

Experience qualifications required -
- Fellow or near-fellow with a recognised Actuarial professional body (eg.Australia,UK,USA,Canada)
- 5+ years of experience working in life insurance industry, valuation or pricing experience welcome
- Good understanding of US GAAP, and market consistent valuation methods (MCEV, EVM or equivalent)
- Good background of actuarial modelling and model management, including hands-on experience with valuation systems
- Analytical skills, and the ability to handle both conceptual and practical issues
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and influencing skills, particularly across different cultures (Asian diversity) and different functions (eg underwriting, finance, claims)
- Ability and courage to constructively challenge strategic and transactional business propositions, but also the business mind set to be solutions oriented
