Linehaul Coordinator
JOB SUMMARY Assist in managing the linehaul operatoins activities for the assigned geographic region. Manage activities of staffing, training and employee development to ensure effective, timely and safe transportation of freight along linehaul routes. Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Monitor the movement and use of linehaul equipment within the system. Ensure adequate equipment levels are maintained to meet anticipated needs based on projected business levels. Ensure utilization levels are within guidelines. Project and schedule road drivers based on forecasted business levels. Maintain adequate staffing levels of qualified, experienced drivers. Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures in conjunction with union labor agreements in regard to staffing actions. Monitor and control linehaul operations efforts directed at cost per mile, driver productivity, absenteeism, empty miles, delay times, and safety goals. Monitor controlled direct load program. Manage hub/satellite coordination to ensure service, load average, and empty miles are within guidelines and movement of freight between points is consistent with service, labor and equipment needs. Ensure relay freight is moved through linehaul facility to next destination with minimum delay. Monitor supplemental time paid out of break and excessive delay time out of end of line facilities to avoid costly time delays. Coordinate activities with other operations departments ensuring consistency of efforts directed toward common goal achievement.
