Linux Expert with strong Core Java Development skills - Hedge Fund - London

I am currently hiring for a Hedge Fund who are looking for a rather unique role to be filled.

The role will be 20-30% Linux Administration, Configuration, Engineering etc and 70-80% Core Java Development. The successful candidates must have excellent skills across both.

The main element of the role will be to work on Core Java Development of new Risk Management and Trading systems and general Hedge Fund IT Infrastructure. The other element of the role will be able to be the sole person looking after the Linux servers in the absence of one of the partners and within the growth of the fund.

If you have strong experience developing Core Java code and strong broad Linux experience. From a Linux perspective the role will be to maintain the Linux servers; managing users, disk space, backups etc., keeping existing software running smoothly and installing and maintaining new software as the business requires.  Liasing with service providers, making purchase recommendations to the partners, etc.  However, this is a lot of responsibility and that also requires a lot of trust.  This is necessarily going to take time to build, so other tasks during this process will be dependent on other skills the candidate has that the business can make use of.
