Linux System Administrator Team Lead Job in Melbourne 3000, Victoria Australia
Listed in the Deloitte top 50 fasted growing enterprises of 2010, a fast paced Melbourne based company specialising in providing information solutions to vast portfolio of leading firms have a vacancy for an experienced Linux System Administrator.
The role will consist of a blend of business as usual and project base work in which the successful candidate will possess the ability to perform operational tasks as well as assisting with the implementation of new systems and services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Second Level support of remote real-time data analysis and batch processing software, hardware and Linux operating systems globally.
- Administration and monitoring of perimeter network devices including Cisco and Juniper firewalls.
- Following defined processes to execute on both scheduled and ad-hoc operational tasks.
- Liaising with hardware vendors and data centre partners to troubleshoot network issues and hardware failures.
Key Requirements:
- Strong knowledge of Linux operating systems
- A good understanding of server hardware and databases
- 3-5 years industry experience in a Linux environment
- An understanding of ITIL concepts within a service desk or operational support environment
- A good understanding of networks and networking technologies including fibre and 10GbE
- Familiarity with common open source software packages
- Strong communication skills
