Linux System Administrator | Technology-driven Hedge Fund Manager (Oxford) recruitment
This hire will be a key member of their Computing and IT Infrastructure function providing the management of business-critical computing systems including storage, compute and network components and cross multiple sites; in-house infrastructure development; and the support of live operations and HPC research environments.
Requirements
- Significant Linux / Unix systems administration in a professional context supporting business-critical platforms. This should cover configuration management, system interfaces, performance tuning, file system semantics and implementations, computer security and familiarity with a wide-range of infrastructure related software.
- A good degree in a scientific, mathematical or technical discipline.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- You should either be currently based within a commutable distance of Oxfordshire or willing to relocate.
Desirable skills and experience
- Expertise in any of the following: storage architectures and protocol details; WAN architectures and global network development using third-party data connection providers; HPC computing architectures (GPU/CPU hardware, interconnects, RDMA); distributed computing e.g. Hadoop, grid computing.
- Experience with any of the following: supporting scientific IT environments; low-latency systems; building high-performance, resilient systems using commodity hardware and open-source software.
- Familiarity with Linux kernel internals and strong programming skills.
