LINUX Systems Administrator
Alexander Black Recruitment is urgently looking for a Linux Sys Admin to join our high profile client.
Our client provides windows and Linux based infrastructure to sensitive government areas. They offer full datacentre and infrastructure access with a particular niche in sensitive storage. Full details of the their business can be discussed in confidence.
The Linux infrastructure Engineer will be responsible for:
Operational responsibility for a key workflow application and assistance with the build of infrastructure development/support environments as well as to provide on-going production support.
Key responsibilities and duties
- Provide 2nd and 3rd line infrastructure support against agreed service levels including the implementation of fixes
- Assist in the build, configuration and deployment of infrastructure environments for both production, DR, support and development
- Infrastructure development and security implementation
Candidates MUST have:
- At least 3 years’ professional system administration experience in a Linux/Unix environment supporting business-critical systems
- Redhat/Linux implementation/Administrations including load balancing/Clustering
- SAN implementation and administration
- Server hardware configuration
- Network design principles and implementation
- Experience of monitoring systems and ideally Nagios
- Experience of implementing and monitoring NetBackup systems
- VMWARE configuration and maintenance
- TOMCAT, Apache, JBOSS
- SQL Server implementation and administration
- Security Cleared would be a benefit
I would expect a candidate of this nature to be able to script.

My client is based in Woking so this role is commutable from across Surrey and Hampshire.
