- Implement and support server infrastructure for development, QA and production environments
- Expertise in various flavors of Linux (Red Hat, CentOS, Oracle Enterprise Linux, Ubuntu)
- Create and maintain virtual machines
- Configure and maintain NFS / shared storage systems (NAS/SAN) using various protocols (Ethernet/Infiniband)
- Configure and maintain system monitoring and configuration tools (CFEngine, Puppet, Nagios)
- Execute planned network maintenance work, minimizing impact to 24x7 services
- Disk backup and recovery
- Disaster recovery procedures
- Troubleshoot a wide array of system, networking and hardware problems
- Create, archive, and retrieve Gold Master machine images
- Manage system-level configuration across multiple server nodes using Puppet/CFEngine or similar tools
- Perform code deployments to test and production environments
- Minimum of 5+ years systems administration experience in Linux environments
- Strong understanding of virtualization (VMWare, Xen)
- Experience using and testing UPS / battery backup systems
- Linux certification, work history, or demonstrated proficiency
- Experience with Puppet/CFEngine or similar scalable configuration management tools
- Hands-on experience racking and cabling server equipment including KVMs
- Scripting and automation using bash, Perl, Python and other common Linux utilities
- Proficiency in compiling, customizing and supporting tools and products obtained from source code
- Ability to work off-hours for system upgrades, emergencies
- Detail-oriented with a strong ability to prioritize and multitask
- Ability to work independently in all phases of systems analysis activities while supporting a team environment
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Demonstrated technical documentation skills
- Bachelor's degree in science or engineering, or equivalent experience
- Experience with Oracle RAC, Xen, or InfiniBand technologies is desirable.
