Essential Position Functions
• Administer and maintain all corporate mission critical technology resources
• Coordinate and perform server hardware and software upgrades;
• Monitor and resolve assigned customer trouble tickets, including resolving tickets within appropriate time frame and escalating tickets as needed;
• Perform initial set-up and configure server hardware and software according to specifications;
• Provide engineering support for support tickets as assigned;
• Assist with design and integration specifications for systems;
• Troubleshoot any operating system, security hardware, or network issues to sustain availability
• Perform research and develop documentation for support and educational purposes;
• Maintain relevant and current knowledge within assigned technical fields;
• Communicate and interact with the other team members or colleagues to ensure coordination and cross-training.
•  Recommend new processes and procedures, equipment and software.


Job Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of experience as a systems engineer in a networked Linux environment (some experience with Windows is a plus)
• Proficiency in operating system, software, and hardware installation / configuration
• Experience with Linux file clustering
• Experience with Linux patching and management (Spacewalk, Satelite, Puppet, Cobbler)
• Ability to streamline administration using scripting (Perl/Bash/PHP)
• Expert level knowledge of current technologies and hardware capabilities of a redundant production environment
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
• Ability to plan and control projects
• Ability to understand and clearly relate to other members of the organization, technical manuals, software specifications, hardware specifications, and general methods of systems operations
• Excellent written and verbal communication skill
