Report To: Quality Control Supervisor, General Manager, Plant Manager
General Purpose of Job: Work hand in hand with the vinegar plant personnel to insure that the vinegar plant is operating in the most efficient manner. Oversee vinegar plant personnel and operations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- All operations of the vinegar plant including but not limited to the following
- Responsibility for all personnel working in the department, the scheduling of weekend and overtime work as needed.
- Responsibility for equipment assigned and needed by the department, to include its proper operation, cleaning, and maintenance.
- Receipt and approval of all alcohol, cider, wine stock and bulk vinegar.
- Manufacturing Vinegar for the production lines.
- Cutting, Coloring, and loading of all tank trucks and other bulk shipments.
- Managing the tank farm.
- Optimum operations of the acetators.
- The requisition, inventory, and usage of all support materials.
- Writing procedures as needed for the vinegar plant.
- Collecting data for the vinegar plant.
- Bring problems to the attention of upper management and work with them to find solutions for the situation.
- Insure that the acetators are running efficiently.
- Insure the operating of a clean, safe environment as mandated by Pilgrim Foods, good manufacturing practices, state and federal laws.
- All operations of cellar including, but not limited to the following:
- Responsibility for all personnel working in the department, the scheduling of weekend and overtime work as needed.
- Responsibility for equipment assigned or needed by the department, to include its proper operation, cleaning, and maintenance.
- Cutting, coloring, and testing of all vinegar to effectively supply the bottling line.
- Preparing apple and prune for the bottling line in an economical mix considering color, acid, and brix. This will be done in conjunction with Q.C.
- Inventory and usage of all concentrate. Including material balance and efficiency.
- Inventory and usage of all other support materials.
- Writing procedures as needed, collecting data, and bring problems to the attention of upper management.
- Insure the operation of a clean and safe environment as mandated by Pilgrim Foods, Good Manufacturing Practices, state and Federal Laws.
- Back-up to Q.C. as needed, and sample make-up especially vinegars and juices.
- Updating and communication of all material safety sheets (MSDS) as required by the written communication laws of OSHA and the state.
- Lifting may be involved in this position.
- Special projects as directed by the Plant Manager, General Manager and/or Company President
- HACCP Duties as assigned.
Education/ Experience:
· Candidates should have a Bachelors of Science Degree in one of the following fields: Food Sciences, Microbiology, Chemical Engineering or equivalent on the job experience.
