The Glasgow Finance Division helps senior management and its individual business units manage the firm’s risk by implementing financial controls over our business activities. The division is crucial to safeguarding the firm’s franchise, reporting on current performance, and evaluating business opportunities.

Role:

The Liquidity and Funding Controller (LFC) team vision is to deliver value to our stakeholders through becoming the global centre of excellence for Firm-wide funding, liquidity and cash traceability reporting and analysis.

The LFC team is represented in our Glasgow, London and New York offices.  The Glasgow team are primarily responsible for supporting the Firm’s liquidity reporting to the Financial Services Authority and Federal Reserve Bank.  

We are currently seeking a Senior Manager to lead a team of 7 staff whose primary function is to provide daily monthly assurance over the Firm’s liquidity data and facilitate external reporting to the regulators and to senior management.  

Position description:
The successful candidate’s key deliverables will include:-

• Supervision of the LFC Glasgow production team to ensure tight regulatory and Firm deadlines are met.
• Review of key control activities undertaken by the team (daily, weekly monthly) ensuring liquidity data and reporting is materially accurate.
• Developing a strong working relationship with key stakeholders across the business.
• Leading monthly business review meetings with senior management from across the firm.
• Production of regular performance reporting and key metrics to demonstrate compliance with procedures and to identify potential areas of inefficiency / risk.
• Timely issue resolution and escalation of issues as they arise.
• Working with the wider LFC teams (Liquidity Hub Development, Business Advisory Risk Management) to re-engineer, standardise and automate the key controls in operation.
• Support the transition of various tasks from London New York to Glasgow, ensuring deployments are undertaken in a managed and controlled manner.
• Be the point of contact for Internal/External Audit and ensuring all compliance and regulatory requirements are met.

Skills Required
• Candidates for the role should be a CCAB qualified accountant
• Demonstrable leadership qualities with a proven track record of leading and motivating a team and developing others.
• A strong controls background with the ability to design new controls and to challenge the operating effectiveness of existing controls.
• Ability to plan and redeploy resources to meet changing requirements.
• Analytical thinker, meticulous work style and ability to troubleshoot and solve problems.
• Willingness to take initiative to develop and improve processes.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (strong excel and database skills a plus).
• Adept at working in a fast-paced, high-energy level environment.
• Good communication skills, especially in addressing technical and quantitative issues.

Skills Desired
F.S. experience and / or knowledge of investment banking products would be desirable.
