Litigation Secretary Job in Norristown 19401, Pennsylvania US


Education and/or Experience:
High school graduate or equivalent
3-5 years legal secretarial experience in an insurance defense firm strongly preferred; Minimum of 2 years' legal secretarial experience with either plaintiff or defense firm

Knowledge:
Working knowledge of the fundamental concepts, practices and procedures

Job Specifications (knowledge, skills, abilities and behavior):
Frequent contact with attorneys, judges, court personnel, vendors, witnesses, claimants, insureds, doctors, and other company personnel
Excellent PC skills and working knowledge of various Microsoft applications or applicable (e.g., Word, Excel and Outlook)
Thorough knowledge of standard secretarial practices, respective courts' Best Practices, and procedures
Familiar with medical and legal terminology, legal documents, and court proceedings
Anticipate attorney's needs as related to case handling
Excellent organizational and planning skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Proven ability to perform multiple tasks quickly and accurately
Ability to be tactful and discreet when dealing with various confidential matters
Ability to produce numerous typewritten documents containing specific legal and/or medical terms in a timely and accurate manner
Ability to transcribe letters and memos from dictation equipment or notes
Ability to proofread typewritten documents for accuracy
Use basic analytical skills to organize and maintain calendars, diaries, schedules, etc
Holds him / herself to the highest ethical standards
Takes ownership in his / her work product and accepts responsibility for any oversights or problems, taking steps to ensure that they are not repeated
Builds and maintains cooperative and mutually rewarding partnerships - both internally and externally

Physical Demands / Work Environment
Normal office setting work environment
Operate standard copy and fax machines with control buttons at height of approximately three feet
Carry, file, and collate legal pleadings and various records, weighing up to 25 pounds
