Local City Driver
CITY DRIVER JOB DESCRIPTION JOB FUNCTION The primary functions of a City Driver are to operate various tractor-trailer combinations or straight trucks between Company terminals or yards and customer facilities or work sites and to sort, handle, load and/or unload freight at various Company and customer locations in a safe, efficient, and timely manner. City (PD) Drivers pick up freight from and deliver freight to customers that are within the local cartage pickup and delivery area but are not conducive to being included in a city pickup and delivery route structure. This type of work would include pickup and delivery at customers that are geographically inconvenient and the pickup and/or delivery or spotting of large volume shipments or truck-loads. All City Driver positions are subject to the applicable job bidding procedure. At many locations, City Drivers also perform the duties of a Line Driver, Dockworker and/or Hostler.
