Local Taxation Officer

Our client is looking to recruit a local taxation officer to join the team on a temporary basis.
The Role
Collection and recovery work: e.g. agreeing, inputting and monitoring arrangements at all stages of recovery, verification and dispatch of notices and dealing with the response from these, obtaining information from customers about their means and ensuring the best recovery options are used promptly, preparation for and attendance at court, setting up attachments of earnings and deductions from benefits, preparing cases to be passed to external agencies, check invoices raised by external agencies and add relevant recovery costs to taxpayer’s accounts, and occasionally accompanying team leaders on visits to taxpayers.
1. Monitoring recovery action and taking steps to maximise the collection of taxation arrears.
2. Dealing with enquiries from customers.
3. Maintaining up to date taxation records.
4. Training new staff.
5. Assisting the section in meeting the standards and targets set in the section’s Service Action Plan.
Person Specification
Previous experience in a similar role within the public sector
Excellent communication skills
