Localisation Language Coordinator

 

The duties and responsibilities of the Language Co-ordinator involves all aspects of co-ordinating the language function in an MLV environment.

 

Main Duties Responsibilities:

 

·          Troubleshoot linguistic and TM related issues:

o    Proactively carry out analysis of English source material to determine complexity level and pre-empt queries;

o    First port of call for linguistic queries.

·          TM management and terminology management;

·          Liaise with Project Management on project specific requests;

·          Work with VT Tools Group on translation process and ideas for tools development, adding linguistic angle to specs/considerations

·          Work with clients to maintain and improve style guides;

·          Investigate client language review feedback and linguistic rebuttals;

·          Organise independent quality checks;

·          Work with teams on  sample and test translations;

·          Liaise with the VistaTEC Project Manager, the Client Language Services Specialist and each of VistaTEC’s language partners in order to keep all of the parties informed of the latest available language information. This would include:

o    Translation instructions and process;

o    Terminology/Glossaries;

o    Language query management;

o    Reference material/Cross reference material for consistency needs;

o    Style Guides.

 

Requirements:

 

·          The LC will be a language specialist who is very experienced in the localisation industry;

·          Degree or Masters in translation;

·          Fluent English plus 1-2 additional languages;

·          Extensive experience in IT Localisation translation;

·          Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;

·          Problem solver;

·          Expert knowledge of standard CAT packages a must (Trados, SDLX, Catalyst etc);

·          An interest in Open source translation and its community would be a benefit.
