I. Position Summary

The Logistics Manager manages and coordinates activities of workers engaged in finished packaging operations, palletization, storage and distribution of ice cream and raw ingredients. Management and replenishment of all outbound ice cream, internal storage and shipment of finished product to points of distribution nationwide.

 

This role reports to Supply Leader – Vermont Manufacturing.

 

The Logistics Manager plays a key role in driving process excellence, data management and KPI measurement.

 

Il. Position Responsibilities (Expected Work)

  1. Manages the development, training, growth and performance of employees within the department for a staff of 40 employees.
  2. Implements new or revised material logistics systems, processes and participates in the layout and design of storage and process areas.
  3. Manages the finished goods, packaging and palletization operations.
  4. Identifies capital projects, prepares justification implementation strategies for warehousing, distribution and packaging operations.
  5. Manages incoming and outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments.
  6. Manages the export of ingredients and ice cream to UK, EU AAMET regions and ensures legal compliance with DOT/IMDG.
  7. Manages the budget for the warehousing, distribution and packaging operations.
  8. Provides leadership and direction in the areas of warehousing, distribution and packaging.
  9. Provides monthly reports and metrics for the Supply Leader.
  10. Responsible for Product Quality and Consumer Safety.
  11. Champion the TPM FI Pillar for Vermont Manufacturing.
  12. Lead the plant Veritce Supplier Management Program
  13. Leads the Plant Run Strategy.

 

Ill. Challenges

  1. Required breadth of knowledge of organization and operating frameworks to ensure seamless material supply from/to the factory.
  2. Influencing key business partners across Planning, Supply Management and Americas SC Capabilities.
  3. Ensure that the appropriate analyses, tools, metrics, reporting and knowledge management infrastructure is developed and maintained to support Working Capital targets.
  4. Development and/or rollout of effective training programs and learning paths to develop employee skills and competencies.
  5. Drive Corporate Initiatives such as Social Responsibility and Supplier Quality Audits with external customer base.

 

IV. Scope

  1. Lead the foundational development of key processes and educational platforms for direct reports totaling 40+ people.
  2. Responsible for five WL1’s across Multiple shifts.

 

V. Skills Competencies

Knowledge

Education

University degree Required, MBA a plus – any discipline, with experience and proven track record.

 

VI. Experience

  1. Bachelors Degree in Business or related field
  2. A minimum of 5 years experience managing the operations in one or more of the following areas; Shipping Receiving, Warehousing, Packaging, Production.
  3. A minimum of 3 years experience managing/supervising employees.
  4. Excellent communication skills.
  5. Computer proficiency, esp. Excel, SAP, Word, Windows NT.

 

VlI. Comments

Role requires strong project management, leadership and communication skills, coupled with the ability to multi-task and operate flexibly at all levels. Mixes strong Supply Management process orientation with strong systems technical knowledge and strong people leadership.

Occasional Travel: 5% of Time.
