Basic Functions:
Performs assignments related to the procurement of logistics services including transportation, warehousing, terminaling and fleet from suppliers across all operating companies in North America. Assists with selection, negotiation with and management of approved logistics vendors. Evaluates performance of vendors to assure quality of service.

Principle Accountabilities:

  • Assist in the preparation of bidding events, either manual or electronic

  • Assist in the approval and selection of new logistics suppliers

  • Assist in the management of logistics contracts

  • Collect, analyze and assure quality of the data to support procurement assessments

  • Assist internal customers in defining their logistics scope of service

  • Assist in identifying value creation opportunities for internal customers

  • Maintain and communicate non-conformance reports to suppliers

  • Assist in creating and maintaining the procurement procedures and manuals

  • Assist in placing logistics purchase orders and contracts in SAP

  • Provide information to the Logistics Procurement Manager, as required for monthly reports, market studies, etc.

  • Understand Quality and Safety Policy and comply with all requirements

  • Assist in the development of capabilities and performance metrics (KPIs)

  • Perform any clerical requirements, as needed, with reference to specific responsibilities

    • Required Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree is a must, no exceptions

  • 3-4 years of logistics experience, in procurement and operations (with emphasis on rail, truck, ocean, and foreign trade activities)

  • Good written and verbal communication skills (English)
  • Some experience in the use of procurement tools (e-sourcing, contract management, etc.)

  • Clear understanding of logistics terms and concepts

  • General computer knowledge (Excel, Word, Access, among others)

    • Preferred Skills:

  • A second language preferred (Spanish, French, etc.)
