LOGISTICS LEADER

Job Description:
Position Purpose:
Provide leadership, coaching and development for the Logistics Team. The Logistics information team is responsible for procuring materials/ services to support maintenance and production schedules, receive and physically store raw materials, finishing supplies and maintenance materials in appropriate warehouse locations. Schedule / plan production machines to produce orders based on forecast and demand from KC mill and external KC customers, plan shipments, ship orders and invoice customers for orders shipped. Conduct cycle and physical inventory counts and process appropriate inventory adjustments. Also, resource to other mill teams for financial / logistical information as needed.

In addition, the team provides mill Materials Management activities and coordinates 3rd party contract labor activities related to material handling movements and Procurement support for the Professional Products Mill.

Customers and Customer Expectations:
Key customers for this position include mill operating and management teams, Purchasing Assistants, MRP controllers, Inventory Coordinator, Deployment Coordinator, Shipping/Receiving and staff business units.

Customers expect timely and accurate analysis, planning support, plant and equipment management, and counsel to support sound financial and business decisions. Deputies require opportunities for continued self-development that will enhance present performance and prepare them for future advancement. The incumbent is also expected to support mill management in ensuring a strong facility internal control program.

Scope:
The position reports to the mill manager. The position assesses job performance and provides career development guidance for the purchasing assistants, MRP controllers, Inventory Coordinator, Deployment Coordinator, and shipping/receiving. This position also has Procurement responsibilities for the Professional Products Mill.

The incumbent is an active contributor to several mill and staff teams and provides analysis and planning support, as well as guidance to the Logistics team to achieve facility and business objectives. The incumbent interacts with staff and other mill locations to ensure consistency and drive/enhance cross sector implementation of “unified practices”.

Qualifications/Education/Experience Required:
A bachelor’s degree or equivalent work indicating quantitative and analytical ability. Competence in the areas of general business practice, as well as an understanding of mill operations, is required. The incumbent must have strong interpersonal skills necessary to train, direct, motivate and develop deputies as well as maintain a strong working relationship within the mill management team.

Principal Accountabilities:

1. Provide business counsel to mill management in the areas of planning and analysis of the mill supply chain and mill manufacturing processes in support of mill and business objectives.
2. Provide leadership to the purchasing, MRP controllers, Inventory Coordinator, Deployment Coordinators, shipping/receiving material handling teams to ensure these functions provide a high level of quality service to mill operating and administrative teams.
3. Ensure that reporting of all physical / cycle inventory results are timely, accurate and consistent with corporate policies and generally accepted accounting principles.
4. Ensure that the organization is staffed with qualified, trained and motivated personnel by encouraging and counseling continued self-development in the areas that will enhance present performance and/or prepare deputies for advancement.
5. Support the Plant and Equipment budget development to ensure compliance with Corporate polices and instructions regarding capital authorizations and control.
6. Support the administration of the mill’s internal control plan and ensure the application of established corporate financial controls by the effective implementation and maintenance of corporate policies and instructions.
7. Support and actively participate in the mill management decision making process as well as setting the long term mill vision. Continuously develop skills by seeking opportunities in areas outside of the Logistics functions.
8. Demonstrate a commitment to quality performance through personal example by adopting a customer-based philosophy in level of service provided.
9. Network with peers and others outside of the mill to ensure the best ideas, practices and procedures from throughout the corporation are available and understood by the mill.

12. 13. Ensure that all business activities align and support the facility EHS policy and the Corporate EHS policies.
14. Ensures that all business activities are in compliance with national and local EHS legislation.
15. Is involved in identifying, reporting, investigating, addressing, and resolving EHS aspects and hazards.
16. Is involved in the setting and implementation of EHS objectives and evaluating the effectiveness of the facility EHS Management System.
17. Will provide the appropriate environmental and safety resources to maintain and improve the EHS Management System. Resources include human resources, organizational structure, technology, and financial resources.
