The Role
- Ensure safety environment within logistic department for people, technical equipment and infrastructure according to the HSE policy.
- Ensure customer satisfaction with strive to have 100% complete and on-time customer delivery performance.
- Supervise day to day activities regarding shipments forecasting, and production projecting and capacity planning activities.
- Supervise planning and scheduling of plant operations to produce products meeting customer requirements while maximizing profitability.
- Anticipate customer requirements and service activities.
- Maintain good working relationships with customers including face to face meetings.
- Integral part of plant launch team with responsibility for logistics aspects.
- Lead the logistics team and set objectives, complete annual PMP’s.
- Ensure that developmental and cross functional training is on-going to fully develop a versatile operation within the Logistics department.
- Monitor logistics process.
- Monitor progress for delivery of schedules service orders to customers.
- Coordinate activities with purchasing, planners, material handlers, transport, packaging and our supplier base to ensure on-time delivery of required components.
- Facilitate communication of significant production-related events to production management.
- Maintain and manage internal and where required external packaging.
- Monitor internal, external and inter-group supplier and supply plant delivery performance and taking corrective actions where required.
- Monitor and help resolve capacity issues without the need to incur any costs where applicable.
- Reduce and dispose of surplus inventories.
- Monitor, report and improve logistic performance.
- Customer delivery performance.
- Causes for excess freight charges and create action plans for elimination.
- Inventory levels and help develop procedures which increase the speed at which materials flow through the plant, and reduce inventory levels in line with budget.
- Manage Logistics metrics on BOS/MOS and other company internal systems related to logistics.
- Key measurable is stock control, stock management and quarterly stock checks.
- Implement logistics improvement actions in coordination with all other plant functions (Quality, Lean Manufacturing, Production, Engineering etc…)
- Monitor and continue to develop Master Production Scheduling techniques based upon Kaizen/Lean principles.
- Develop, implement and enforce control activities, written policies and procedures to control all production planning / scheduling / control activities.
- Active part in other projects or tasks assigned to logistics by management team.
The Person
- You must be an experienced Logistics Manager with experience of the following 3 areas:
- Production Planning.
- Material/supplier management, scheduling and expediting.
- Warehouse management.
- Candidates will be certified to degree/business engineering level or relevant industry experience within high volume manufacturing, any exposure to automotive manufacturing would be highly desirable.
- Previous experience of working within a high volume, automotive manufacturing environment, coupled with the ability to work as an individual or as part of a team.
- Experience in a production planning and ERP based system with a high number of complexity and bottleneck work cells.
- In depth knowledge of JIT and the Kanban method of production control.
- In depth knowledge of all areas of materials logistics.
- Sound understanding of Quality, Business and OEM systems/standards, e.g. TS16949 / ISO 14001 / OHSAS 18001 / Q1.
- Proven leadership and management skills within a challenging environment.
- Good knowledge of structured problem solving tools and methodologies.
- Excellent presentation skills.
- Good computer skills, conversant with Microsoft office.
- Excellent motivator, self-starting, with an enthusiastic approach.
